Fall To-Do List
Fall To-Do List
At this time of year, most people are thinking about football, leaves and everything pumpkin spice. But don’t forget, fall not only brings sweater weather, but it also brings some important “to-dos” for homeowners.
The trees are looking gorgeous right now, but they are also dropping those pretty leaves all over the place! Make sure you get your gutters cleaned. Leaves can fill up and block your gutters, not allowing for precipitation to properly drain. Improper drainage can cause leaks, rot wood and a heck of a mess!
The Hose Knows
Don’t forget to unscrew and remove all hoses from outside spigots. Once you make sure all the water is drained from the hose, store your hoses inside to protect them. Are your spigots winterized? Are your pipes protected? No one likes to discover a basement full of water from a frozen pipe.
Light It Up
Don’t put off replacing those light fixtures any longer. You will be spending more time indoors during the colder months. Those new fixtures not only look nicer, but they are more efficient, especially with LED bulbs.
With more people indoors more often, it is time to get with the program and update your outlets with USB plugs. Make it easier for everyone to charge their smart devices throughout the house.
The holidays are right around the corner. Holidays bring guests and guests means more water usage. Have your water heater flushed to remove sediment. Flushing your water heater helps prolong your equipment’s life, reduces the time for water to warm up and makes your equipment run more efficiently.
Deck the Halls
Are you looking to outdo the Griswald’s this year? Do you have family coming in that may overload your circuits with hairdryers and charging phones? Are you sure your panel can handle the extra load? Save yourself from obvious safety violations and running to reset breakers every few minutes and have an electrical inspection. The electrical inspection will let you know if everything is up to snuff.
Once again, with more people and pets indoors you can say hello to dust and dander. Make sure everyone can breathe easy and have your ducts cleaned. No one wants to breathe old, stale air full of whatever is in the ductwork from 1985.m Seriously people, you wouldn’t believe some of the stuff we’ve cleaned out of ductwork! While you’re at it, start with a clean slate and have Godby clean your dryer vent before the kids take over laundry duty and forget to clean it after each load.
Last, but certainly not least, make sure you get your furnace tune-up and inspection before the winter weather hits. Regular maintenance on your equipment keeps it running more efficiently and lengthens its life. Call and get on the schedule or shoot us a text! Either way works!
Home upkeep can be tedious at times, but Godby makes it easy. You can get the entire list completed with just one call! Three trades, one team- It’s Gotta be Godby!
